"Dancers in flight," by Rory Moses |
Picture this, my mother like many other mothers saved everything her child accomplished growing up; from report cards, Mother's day cards, even the School Based Assignment (SBA) projects which I will forever be indebted.
When I bought my first home, I knew I wanted some artwork that were totally original. The problem was, everything was beyond my budgeted amount, that's when it clicked. I would rummage through the items my mother saved and find pieces that were one of a kind.

It was a golden treasure filled with pastel paintings, water colors and pencil drawings hidden away in my old bedroom. I sorted them into my favorites and had them framed.

Framed artwork using original pieces by Rory Moses |
Use window panes:
Old window panes from the French colonial style homes provide an attractive and "chic" art wall at the back of your sofa, or on a corridor wall.

Old photos are excellent to use. Just scan them and print them in black and white. Then simply stick them on the panes with tape. Like magic, simple and easy art!

Stretch fabric over a canvas or fabric frame:
A remnant piece of fabric you love, part of your Carnival costume fabric, or a pattern you adore. All can become art when stretched over a canvas. Here, a beautiful print takes the place of a large painting.

Tree branches on wooden planks:
Dried tree branches in its natural form can be mounted using screws on painted ply board or wooden planks. Quick note: these look better in pairs or groups of three.

Wonderfully done....I love the design do overs, such great and inexpensive ideas...life sometimes hit us unexpectedly in times and places we didn't anticipate, but the important thing is that, we are resilient enough to get up, dust off and proceed again. So kudos to you Rory for doing just that....hope you enjoy this new phase of your life

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this blog. We all go through some sort of trials or changes that may change us in some way. Change is inevitable, it is how we respond to these changes is what is important. Really enjoyed reading. Great pictures. I wouldnt mind paying for some of those paintings at the same "inexpensive" prices. :)

ReplyDeleteI am actually a fan of the "accent wall". When I repainted my apartment I looked at the website for the paint company and they actually had designs online.
ReplyDeleteLove the wire hanger artwork, may have to incorporate that.
